moved..

i've realised that its such a hassle to keep switching between two sets of blogs on two different systems.

i've now moved over to WORDPRESS

sometimes i just hate uni life

last week was indeed a killer one. 1 exam, 2 projects, 3 quizzes all rolled into one.

somehow i sense a conspiracy of letting everything accumulate and blow us all into pieces. its like snowball that just gets bigger as it approaches and plummetting you as you collide with it.

some things have been moving really fast, i'm glad but i'm afraid of spinning out of control and landing flat on my face. again.

why do i feel i've been done this path before?

on a lighter note:
today during math, the lecturer was going through partial derivatives and turning points etc. he came unto a sort of turning point called "saddle point". but being brit, somehow my friend, fx, didn't catch what he said and turned and asked me if it was saddle or subtle point. to illustrate to her what it was, i began rocking up and down on my chair as though it were a saddle. it hit home instantly.

unfortunately, it hit home with the backrow. who all burst all laughing. what was more hilarious to me was straight after the laughter, the rest of the class was looking in our direction, completely clueless.

sleep is for the weak, unfortunately, i'm weak.

emo-babble

its been a long time since i've blogged here. photography, jobs and school have kept me far too busy. when i do have time however, its been well-spent with walkabouts and shoots. i don't feel the inspiration to write and come hit me.

lately, i've been feeling a lil down. a project that went haywire, not getting my grades and feeling ever so lost and abandoning all hope.

when the going gets tough, the tough get going

how i wish i was tough enough to keep grinding through this life i have.

thanks to a certain friend who's been around, listening to me vent and emo -_- sorry you had to listen to all my crap =/

my portfolio is now up btw!

please support me! mucho gracias ~

feels like 24

its 3.30am and i just showered, after hanging out at west coast park, after supper at fong seng's nasi lemak, after die hard 4.0 (review later!), after sparring with W.

all in all a rather unproductive day. which is set to change.

sparring was good. didn't play very well, repeated the same form of tuesday night. slightly better but not good enough. let W get to the hill in both sets twice before coming from behind to win. lots of nerves for both of us today, strangely. i was slightly distracted by the time so that played its part too.

die hard 4.0 was good, i'd give it 4/5. action is quite slick, very entertaining. not much of a storyline but then, who really cares when the action just keeps you glued. simpsons coming out end of the month i think, so no really good shows to tide me till then. have got a coupon to clear though =/

supper at the nasi lemak at fong seng was good. rather the sambal was good, the ingredients were quite standard.

then to west coast park, where we walked ard in the sand, climbed that net thing (rather i just did, jq was too scared) talked abt movies a bit and then i'm home!

that was like an hour ago heh. just showered, prob gonna stay up. econs quiz tmrw on chap 8 which i haven't studied for (although i had planned the last 3 days to-sigh the problems of a procrasinator) as well as one journal and english homework due. will get it all done tonight or rather this morning. prob a short nap and then off to school. tennis tonight too!

Alcano Part 2!

Went for this private pool clinic (which turned out to be just alcano playing whoever on a bar table) and watched him exhibiting his greatness again.

Shot of the day was the double kiss on the 8 to send it to the top corner. ask me when you see me if you wanna know how/what he did.

some photos.. abit sad that the lighting was quite bad (well its a bar/pub and lighting is not really a big thing there,) and my cam (and more likely techniques) are insufficient for the task (when can i get my 24-70mm f2.8L and 5d?)

so here they are:

Then just a short update. School's alright, midterm results are in and i'm doing fairly ok. Sitting on a B or B+ for maths, A- for english and A for econs. Hopefully, God willing, I can keep that up.

Been playing better since i watched alcano, have been playing like a bit of a robot when i spar with W. played snooker too on monday with D, trying all the shots and shooting them as if they were pool shots. heh rather interesting to see them go in and the look on his face.

i lost the first frame by a point, but won the next two by 7 and 44 points respectively.

how did the 44 come abt?

well to put it simply, everytime i missed (which i did alot) i would leave him hooked real bad. twice he kicked out by he hit the black instead of the red. lols. plus the potting in that frame was something i've never done before, i made what i saw. wow.

new sparring partner & movie reviews

played W last friday and drew 2-2, didn't play very well. always felt like i was chasing. played again on tuesday and won 3-1! quite fortuitous to win the first set but then the last two sets, guessed he just crumbled, heh. looks like i got a new sparring partner! =P

some movies that i've watched recently, hot fuzz and oceans 13. i'd rate both of them 4/5.

hot fuzz was very funny in a brit humour kind of way, balancing action and a witty storyline. its about poking fun into the stale british police force and the story of this over-achieving cop who lands himself a promotion to a sleepy, perfect village. but underneath that exterior of perfectness, there's a sneaky conspiracy going on.

oceans 13 was a more sophisticated storyline, i liked it not only for the star-studded cast but its overall storyline, witty remarks and sudden twists. how did you get even with the most ruthless man? this very talented team is back to show us how ;)

transformers was better than i had expected. the action was thick, fast and furious. clearly an action flick, as the storyline was quite flat. well, not as if its meant to have lots of dialogue. pity the transformations between normal vehicles to their bot forms could have a bit slower, it would have been a lil more cooler. i'd rate this 3.5/5 btw, for girls, the army guy guy in the show is hot (as claimed by a few girls i've spoken to) and i will say that the female lead was hotter! ;)

now back to my essay =P

btw, i'll be meeting Ronnie Alcano tmrw for his private clinic at Duxton Blue :)

i'd easily recommend those two shows to anyone.

watching him play, i could describe it in two words: efficient & confident

the precision and power of his stroke is truly one to behold. i think there's only one way to beat him, that is to not make a single mistake. i was thoroughly impressed by his level of play.

World 8 and 9 Ball Champion in SG!

Yup, its all over the news and ads! Ronnie Alcano, current World 8 and 9 Ball Champion, of the Philipines is here in Singapore. He's doing some Guiness sponsored events and will be playing by request at Games Fusion @ Depot Rd.

I'll be there to clock some of the action and will bring you back a nice report with nice pictures before heading to the national 9 ball finals between Aaron Koh and Benard Tey to cover that too!

Stay tuned for an exciting episode tmrw!

cousin's birthday.. hate to lose.. what cousin? *acts blur*

Heh.. wishing my cousin Deuel a great 22nd and well we've got a long road ahead and all the best man!

that came from bowling after their movie and dinner @ kenny rogers.

had a really interesting chat during dinner and well lets say i've got an insight on girls i've never heard before (or heard but forgotten - thats guys for you girls)

we paired up and then the bet was another game on the losing team..

final score was me and kevin 113-79 and 94-95 (i can't remember - think it was 3 points)

i should apologize, should have let deuel win since its his birthday and stuff but well i hate to lose (when i know i can win) =P

well the 2nd game didn't materialize as some of them had to go, so we'll have it some other time.

btw, got my own copy of Freakonomics as well as a photography book :) think i'm gonna be spending more on books of such types anyway.

time flies

wow its been 6 weeks since i started school.

guess the pace of this course is just too fast. i've hardly got time to really "breathe". thank God i applied with my partial poly results, got an exemption from a ridiculous subject heh!

see, i was supposed to take academic writing, maths, micro-econs and music this sem. for reasons unknown to us, you are supposed to take an "arts" subject as one of your non-major electives. however, the only "arts" subject they have here in singapore is music. went for the first lesson, couldn't find my name in the attendance, let the teacher know and voila! on my way to the next music lesson 2 days later, i got a call from SIM to let me know that i was exempted from the subject! all they said was "your poly gave you the exemption" haha..my cousin is currently still stuck there, and says they must have gotten the wrong person exempted =P now if he were smarter and submitted even his partial results, he might have gotten exempted too!

anyways, i kinda like what i'm taking now.

english by far, is the subject i'm scoring at, strangely. i've got a nice teacher who sets easy quizzes and makes essays leniently :)

econs is alright, very very interesting as it is now. i would enjoy it more if not for my crazy-speed lecturer who knows 2 speaking speeds, fast and faster. zip through a chapter in one 1.5/2 hr lecture period. plus the threat of pop quizzes cuz we don't seem to be keeping up to his requirement of 2 hours of outside study per hour of his teaching, (except that he doesn't really realise we're not only taking econs this sem and there are midterms going on this week!)

lastly, maths. which i think i'm proficient at but just so so sooooo rusty. i don't make up for the rustiness by working even harder. why i do that, i don't know. i guess this will be one of the subjects that will continually haunt me throughout my study life. i struggled with it during sec school, even though my psle and o level grades were good and acceptable. i struggled with it in poly, where i would just stare blankly at the question during the test/quiz/exam but know how to do it after i walk out. 3 years later, its happening again =/

have been playing quite a lot of pool and a bit of snooker/number in the past 5 weeks. nice to know i'm still in a bit of shape for pool despite my studying schedule :) however, didn't play any this week, had a lot of physical exercise this week though ;) basketball on monday, soccer on weds, tennis tmrw and soccer on sat.

just did a short 3km run in about 13mins. lousy! guess training then falling sick then not training straight after i'm much better is gonna be a problem i'll have heh. i've always believed that if you're in good physical shape, you're gonna play better pool (amongst other physical sports) its sort of a feel-good, play better thing heh. maybe some sports psychologists can comment on that.

english mid-terms tmrw, worried a lil that i'll not be able to write under pressure but leaving it in the hands of God :)

check back soon, will try to write more often heh!

oh btw, some movies i've watched (ratings in brackets) :
Shrek3 (3.5/5), Pirates of the Carribean (3/5), Fantastic Four & the Rise of the Silver Surfer (3.5/5)

some movies i will wanna catch:
Ocean's 13, Hot Fudge, Die Hard 4.0, Transformers, Simpsons (just saw the trailer today heh)

some other random stuff i wanna do anytime soon: go bowling, have a good bowl of laksa, go-karting, go for a short trip overseas.

never thought i would say this but, THANK YOU ARSENAL!

orienteering

*koff*sneeze*koff*

thats what i'm left with after a damn tiring week..

monday - last day of work, huge guard score ;) stayed till late to play with CT and G, got home and basically computer gamed till 4 am (totally regreted it the next day)

tuesday - mom woke me up at 8.30 to go for work before realising its the start of the month and i don't work anymore. slept and woke at 9.30 to go do the AV for YC/M's wedding :) quite glad that its finally happened haha..! went for my youngest cousin's birthday at Carlton Hotel, was a lunch/hi-tea thing and then to Oriental for the wedding dinner, which was quite good. started to feel a lil sore at the end of my throat. met Z and his friends for the Liv-Che game and watched Liv score one and save 2 penalties to go to the Champs Lge final. slept at 6.

wednesday - woke up 3 times at 11.30am, 2pm and then at 4pm and went down for another night, this time much tired and in no mood. went over to D's place and had punggol nasi lemak (which i think is overpriced but rather good) and then watch Milan demolish my beloved Man Utd. they were outclassed and outplayed and Milan deserved to win by that scoreline. squeezed and slept at 5.

thursday - first day of orientation and abt as much talks as i can remember about GPA and all that american school system. woke up at 7.30, rushed and had breakfast before taking an hour to get to school from his place. finished it at ard 1, had lunch and then got caught in the rain. ended up reaching home at ard 3, slept and woke up at 7 for dinner with mum before collecting my pay! Hooray! finally been paid ;) slept very early for once at 11.

friday/saturday - day two of orientation, which was supposed to be compulsory (but abt 2/3rds went - i'm one of the 2/3rds =/ ) woke up with a slight fever and fluish symptons, chased them off with a panadol and went. the runny nose followed me throughout the day as i went from prinsep st to running around orchard rd (doing things we'll only do once or twice in lives just to be sporting) then to changi where my butt now hurts from sitting down so much. did a night walk ard the OCH area but its just spooky, didn't expect anything supernatural to happen or did anything happen. left as soon as they dimissed us and headed straight home to more panadols and much wanted sleep. that was ard 12 hours ago from the time of posting =/ slept 11 straight hours, slightly less fluish but still groggy.

more thots in a day or two while i clear my nose and throat of that green stuff

see-saw

had a see-saw day today,

started out by breaking the key to the main doors whilst opening up. good thing i had already opened up the back door, so at least it was accessible. bad part was that part of the key was stuck.

half an hour later, i got the key out, so not so bad. stuck signs directing ppl to the rear door. business resumed as usual. luckily one of the bosses came by and had a spare key so i managed to get a duplicate.

then my game had a see-saw too.
played with SD, giving him a rack in a race to 7 for the table, lost the first 4-7, won the second 7-3. played very differently in each set. (2 hours)
then he had to go back for classes so i played S and self-destructed 1-5. (0.5 hours
had a quick lunch and played G, did the same thing as the previous game and lost narrowly 6-7, recovered and played very well, winning 7-3, before self-destructing 3-7. (3.5 hours)
rested and had dinner, did my work and then played short races with N, winning both races 3-0, 3-1. (0.5 hours)
ZJ dropped by with his sports camp friends and played but i think it was like 4-9 (we didn't keep score) and him being generous. (1 hour)

Total playing time today: 3+0.5+3.5+0.5+1 = 8.5 hours

Totally drained. wasn't even thinking towards the end when i was playing ZJ.

thot of holding a competition on saturday mornings at century, might plan something and tell AK soon heh.

a bad tackle, a lost game, a car accident

did a full shift on saturday..and was so bored waiting for my dinner to arrive i did this,

then sunday came, and i found out there's a new day between friday and saturday, and its called "Lisa"

went for a match with joseph and his team. didn't play very well, we went from 2-1 up at half time to 3-4 at full time =/ took a bad tackle to the right ankle when the opposition midfielder tackled me and got my ankle instead of the ball. but its ok now i guess.

then after the match, we had a screech of tires and a loud bang. ran out and found out there was an accident between a car and lorry. dunnoe who's right or wrong but it did look kinda bad. fortunately there was no major injuries, just probably a concussion for the driver.

for those who caught 300..

and for those who did not,

go check this out, its insanely funny!

its been one week since...

i started work.

(to those thinking otherwise, shame on you!)

ended the first week of work with a full shift. and this is how my usual counter would look like,

on the right, is the "Waiting List", on top is the "Registration Book", left is the "Other Daily Sales Record" and on the bottom is the "Time Sheet"

well, if you thought working from 10am - 7pm was draining enough, i would recommend the full experience from 10am-2am! i've never felt 16 hours feel so long before! granted, it moved quicker when sarah was around, and when there was to do heh.

on the bright side, since my day shift pay is counted at the end of the month only, whilst the night shift gets to take some cash back every night, it earned me some much-needed extra pocket money.

on the dark side, a 15 year old kid sneaked in and i didn't spot him until the police did a quick lookaround. sigh =/ also man u lost 1-2 to portsmouth! DOHHHHHH!!

anyways, just a short update on the week.

ran on wednesday after basketball (only played 1/2 an hr) and learnt a good lesson, don't run when you're tired or have lack of sleep =/ (slept at 2am on sunday, 2am on monday, 2am on tuesday)

then this sleep debt carried on to thurs, where we gathered at jurong lake park to celebrate jon's birthday with Laser Tag. so happy birthday JON! unfortunately we did not succeed in our plans to throw him into the lake ;) but it was great fun all around. went for drinks/supper and jon created a new drink/dessert, Teh-O Lychee Jelly Cocktail!

and i slept at 4am..! =/

so its no wonder that on friday i was just ready to crash. so ready that on the bus to Good Friday service, i fell asleep and only woke up 2 stops after the supposed stop. genius. got to church abt 1/2 an hr after service started.

konked right out after supper with my relatives and well i survived today!

question is, will i survive tmrw?

Wednesday, April 04, 2007

settling in

more or less settled in to my job at century. been doing a lot of extras (like stuff the night shift is supposed to do) but i don't mind. kinda taken to it like exercise ;)

cept for the waking up every morning at 8 to be on time for work, i've been doing late nights like 2am for 3 days running.

and looking at the forecast of events, tmrw will be tiring day cuz of jon's laser tag party late into the night. so i'm supposed to sleep early today. but heh i still need to burn another disc for my own use at century =p

so anyways, happy birthday debbie and jon!

Tuesday, April 03, 2007

first day of work

contrary to popular belief, working at a pool hall does not mean free play! =/

anyways its a no brainer job ;) just cleaning tables and working the meter. how difficult can it get?

also got this crazy idea to run to work everyday for like 2 weeks. haha..bet i'll be quite fit after that. only thing stopping the plan is the lack of shower facilities =/

otherwise i think it'll be really cool..i'll still go and try it out one of these days ;)

first day wasn't so bad, it'll come easier with ease! =)

one of the better (pool) days

went to wheelock (instead of vivo as originally planned to catch the shot due to the rain) to fix my shuffle which got corrupted somehow :(

bought an italian bmt from subway @ lido, but when i got onto 171 it was too crowded to eat. so i had it for supper instead, it was a bit gooey but a quick toast did the trick.

headed to century early, and today's just one of the days when things go for me i guess. sebas wasn't really in top of form, conceded the game early at 6-4, of which the first 8 racks were split evenly and each winning off the other's break.

proceeded to play with eugene (who's by far the most improved player at century) and was down 5-0 when he scratched on a 9. all the while sitting in my seat i knew i deserved to lose, playing the way i was and how he was playing, just kept telling myself to get 4 racks so it'll be an acceptable result (like how losing 4-7, looks better than 0-7 - its still a lose but it won't look that bad) then somehow he had a sudden drop in form too. i won 7-5 in the end, and i think out of that 7 racks, i only deserved to win 1 when i ran out from a foul after i played safe on him. the rest were strangely uncharacteristic of him.

went for dinner, sebas tried some small talk with justin but somehow it was quite quiet. felt a lil odd too. seeing how i might possibly take over from justin in a few days, and how that one stunt could possibly be the final straw that breaks the camel's back. benny was working that night, so me and sebas didn't plan to stay long, had an 8 ball game instead of the usual 9 ball.

again like the afternoon game, we split 12 racks evenly, winning on each other's break, until the last rack where i finally got the upperhand and won. which surprised me in a way. today's one of the days where i've played better pool than i can remember. not thinking that it might continue but hoping nevertheless.

submission

guess the rain stopped me from doing what i would have liked. showers the entire day means prob no sun when i need it the most. so i went plan B and submitted what i had anyways.

Entry 1:

Entry 2:

now leaving everything else into God's hands :)

24hrs

yeap thats the time left to submission.

and fretting that i had no one scenery photo to publish, i had to dig deeper into my photo archives. and i found 6! unfortunately they look rather ordinary. have to find one outstanding one.

and grace told me she submitted 3 entries already, i wonder if thats allowed or if i would do that too ;)

anyways, here's one more addition to people, one more addition to action, and 6 for scenery:

lost time and something remembered..

heavy downpours and cloudy skies meant i would miss today's opportunity for that scenery photo i'm looking for. and i'm running out of time! tmrw's the submission date and i don't have a photo to show for it.

feeling a lil anxious i might not get it and thus not go for it in the end.

have to get my butt off my chair/couch/bed more.

anyways i was looking through the archives of this blog and found this, i thot it was quite meaningful so i'll share it again,

The Final Analysis
People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centred;
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of having selfish ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.

Give the world your best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world your best anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God;
it was never between you and them anway

last minute plans

In an effort to join the Canon-TNP Young Photographer contest, i asked a couple of friends what they thot of certain photos, here's one of the replies I got when I asked him to choose between a photo of himself and of some kids: (names changed to protect the living)
says:
i shall be modest and say the bdc kids
says:
though i think i'm rather good looking

hahahaha....!

this is what sebas did while waiting for me to clear up, and he was leaving a msg for justin lols!

anyways, i'm missing a scenery shot. was hoping to get it yesterday at vivo before meeting a couple of friends for dinner. alas, i plan but work beckoned. ended up spending the night at century. and died when it came to the accounts. its so messsy lah. like sebas said, "you're a noob lehhh" and i totally agree. took freaking long to stack the drinks and then count.

owells..hopefully after more experience i would be better (:

anyways, i've shortlisted these photos for submission, let me know what you think!

basic manners pls.

if i am late, i will apologize at the very least, come up with a valid excuse and eat humble pie.

if you're damn freaking late, don't tell me, you are late because ...
1. you feel like being late
2. you can
3. you just want to see how pissed i can get before leaving

woo..done!

well done with yesterday's photos.

took 332, published 104! :)

have a look if you wish, http://www.flickr.com/photos/7489149@N07/tags/nexus2007/

or go to http://www.flickr.com and then search either for my username "joel.thingie" or the tag "nexus2007"

anyways, saw one of the "pro-er" photographers and the photos he took from yesterday. like they were so good. i've a loooooooooong way to go!

1st event cover!

wheee!

it was fun (and very tiring!) to cover the Nexus 2007 event. thank God for seeing me through the day.

i slept at 3am (again..must be a faulty body clock), woke up at 5.30am, reached the location at 7am, left at 9pm.

covered the talks and panels by several leading figures in the tech world. have some photos i'm quite proud of :) and mainly was running all over the place taking random pictures of people. in a way i guess i'm starting to like human protraiture =p

gonna spend some time to process the photos..took 331 photos in all. wow. didn't realise, just kept clicking ;)

think i might go and try for the TNP young photographer award thingy too. think i got enough stuff to try!

will post a link to the site when i'm done!

btw...tried this guy's 5d with a 70-200mm f4L IS USM lens. i almost died lah. its so good to shoot with lorh!

I WANT MY L LENS!

saw like 3 other "pro" photographers, one dude had a 70-200 f4L and a 17-40 f4L with a 30d (almost 6k), another a 30d with a 70-200 f2.8L, 24-70 f2.8L (almost 8k), and the most "pro" one with a 5d and a 30d with 70-200 f2.8L, 24-70 f2.8L, 17-40 f4L, 70-200 f4L (12k worth).

WOW.

then again a good laptop to do processing as soon as i shoot would be great too. especially for an event like this. saw some very good dude at design doing his stuff (the logos, shirts, boxes, banners were all designed by him) and thot that would make a worthwhile investment. but thats like another 2k :(

slowly slowly i hope i can get to that stage =p

now to shower =/

tiredness sets in

yesterday's cage was pretty good. ended up with a trio of malay dudes who were quite good.

not that i did much, but i was still very much tired after along with a sore left ankle =/ came home and konked out from 6-9 woke up for dinner, packed the house a lil before feeling extremely tired ard 12. proceeded to try to sleep but couldn't.

sucks.

the feeling of tiredness but not being able to sleep. konked out at ard 3 in the end. had to wake up at 8 to bring stuff out to give to the recycling company. then konked out till 12. lols.

well at least i didn't follow up with my sleep plan of sleeping at 9 on sunday and waking at 7pm on monday =p

weather looks like its gonna rain and another good day to sleep in. but i've got work to do!

sucks.

btw..this is post #350! yay!

each different and unique :)

D? N!

to the clueless, D = Drive, N = Neutral

so in addition to yesterday's post, Danny went down from JQ's place in N. and we managed to hit the main rd! thats a 1000 kudos points to Danny!

where logic does not always pay off

had a yf bbq thingy tonight, went early to start the fire.

opened the larger 6kg pack of charcoal and proceeded to start the fire. only problem is, they were all small bits and chips. any how the fire did get started though it was a lil low.

then i opened the smaller 4 kg pack and lo, and behold. all the charcoal in that pack were large ones =.=

what logic is that lah?!

anyways, bbq went great from the bbq end, didn't really eat anything from the tables, actually didn't really eat much. just 2 wings, 2 satays, 1/2 a fish, some bits of the sambal jacket, quite a few otahs and 2-3 sausages. guess its the smell that kills the hunger.

table tennis after that was great. should look into changing the rubber for my own bat from pimpled to a standard rubber. have to work on that backhand ;)

seem to be playing more table tennis, i do get a good sweat out of it and i like the quick pace of the game. hmmm alternative exercise option! :D

boredom

worked at century on sunday with sebas. first time officially. had to rush off though cuz of a family dinner and that the night dude was late. had a lil scare during dinner when sebas called to say that there was 20 bucks missing from the drawer =.=

turned out to be a miscalculation but that is way too common over there. really contemplating doing that for a month. like what if it keeps happening?!

dinner was alright, some place at kitchener road. going to my aunt's place wasn't. for those who wish what it is to travel in india, just head to the backlanes near mustapha centre. whole friggin place full of them. no respect for traffic either. lost count of how many times my cousin had to horn them to get out of the way. i would have bet joseph would just run them down.

mahjonged the whole night and watch spurs surrender a 2 goal lead to chelski. makes me think, spurs have now scored 7 goals and conceeded 6 goals in 2 away games. heard someone made a big score on 6 goals. eventually slept at 4 and woke up at like close 1. headed to century to meet sebas to collect my pay then home and to Jq's to table tennis till 11. reached home and konked. so i woke up at 11 =P

just noticed that the rain (which is pouring) is coming in at 45 deg angle. wow. boredom is settling in. i should go curl up again and nap *yawnz*

running in circles

crap. i have to wait 1 month and 3 days to get my phone at the 21 month price. -_-

have to hunt for another decent phone..!

might be getting a job from apr-may, crappy pay, crappy place, crappy job but errr...at least some inflow. think 20 days, $40/day.

otherwise, working as a lab rat would be good too..

1.9k, 4 weekends (book-in fri night, book-out sun aft), 4 drugs to test.

which would make a smarter choice?

proh-kras-tuh-neyt

no prizes for guessing what that is. or what it means. points will be given though (not like the points matter ;)

watched Out of Order with my mei. Brit comedy play, very interesting about a JMP (junior minister of parliment), his PPS (parliment personal secretary), his affair with the secretary of the opposition, an angry husband, a detective who goes down too easily, a very inquisitive hotel manager and an oppportunistic waiter. quite a barrel of laughs (:

so thanks for asking me to go, i enjoyed it! (:

when i first decided to go, i was thinking it might be a bit out of my league and understanding, but well it wasn't too bad. haha..well it wasn't my first taste with plays but this one was rather light-hearted and entertaining. its on now till sunday at the DBS Arts Centre and tickets are available from SISTIC.

had dinner at the bak kut teh store at the corner very near to mohd sultan. was quite good, like how it used to be 2+ years back. drinks with the guys later and now home and knowing i have to sleep but somehow putting it off again.

semi long day tmrw. thinking abt working at the pool hall where i play at, in the day. have to think about it this week and then i want a new phone! my dopod's down *koff*koff*hint*koff*koff* and even my trusty n6100 is starting to fail me! noooooooo!

a n73me would be nice ;)

Heh still fatigued from the soccer, and i'll hand over the birthday torch to lisa in 2 mins..

and yes..what a "birthday gift" from man u! hehehe! 1-0 at anfield, thanks to an o'shea (of all people) goal in stoppage time..

great stuff..!

thanks its been a fun and interesting day ;) cya all in a bit!

*pant* ACROSS!!! *pant*

oh boy. do i feel old! my legs agree with me and they say, they feel 10 years older =/

the Grand Plan being completed, kudos to the drivers, joseph, jeremiah, danny, freddy! Thanks for allowing me the "use" of your cars to get everyone there and most back. Thanks to all who made it, adrian, kai (hope you two get better soon! meet on the pitch someday soon! ;), ben, jq, chan, elliot, haogen, zhuang, tian lang & friends (bryan, samuel, tianyu (?) and that big dude-sorry didn't get your name *grinz*), lian yi, lian kuang and the above-mentioned drivers.

i hope you guys had a great game and a great time :) i know i did! amidst a lil heated challenges beautiful football and excellent goals were scored.. thank you for all your time and energy. hahaha..i totally ran myself dry, feet refused to respond the brain's prompting to run for that ball which seemed to run so fast tonight (or rather this morning)

in retrospect, i enjoyed organizing as well as being part of this plan ;) as an average soccer player (and photographer, and pool player, and friend, and person) it really  felt like a dream to play amongst friends and everyone having a good time, and feeling that youth again ;)

thank you all once again. it has been a morning to remember! =p

*toy alert*

Heh. got my nice new 15 pointer Mike Bender from the customs today, thanks sebas for printing and accompanying me :)

if you see this pic, its actually 5 ebony points recut into 5 maple points and then finally recut into 5 ebony points, making it 15 points in total! (:

here's the link to the album: Mike Bender 15 Point Ebony into Birdseye Maple

on other notes, lugging a camera, a case with 4 cues and a folder will definitely give you a back or shoulder ache (which i'm experiencing now)

the new cue plays real nice, a lil light but its ok so far, will tell you in a month if its a keeper ;) took another set of cues for someone:

let me how i did in all the photos and in my album. criticsm is definitely welcome!

oh yes, the birthday plan is on!

WHEN: 03 March 2007, 0100-0300 hrs
WHAT: Soccer
WHERE: The Cage
HOW: get your own transport, drive or car pool. let me know if you need a ride or if you can give others a ride. i'll do the arrangements.
WHY: cuz i just so wanna play soccer on my birthday ;)

oh why won't the rain stop...

quite eventful 3 days (:

monday -
actually it starts on sunday night when i watched chelski STEAL a victory from arsenal's grasp in the league cup. a rise of a wonderkid, a blatant offside goal, a bad kick to terry's face (which left him unconscious and very nearly killed him), a great goal (by the one who scored that offside goal) and a bad brawl is how i sum up the match.

my goodness, i almost thot terry would have died after that full blooded kick from diaby. complete accident of course. but utterly scary.

had a couple of drinks and table tennis in the wee hours of the morning with jon and jq. played fairly well heh. 11-1 jon! =p *does "danny stare"*

woke up really really late like at 12. rushed down to klassic to meet the Chinaman, YH and took pictures of his cues so far, an 8 pointer James White, 9 pointer Franklin-era Southwest and a Cosnogcenti. beautiful cues (:

made my way to qshop, hung ard and took photos of an Omen plain jane and then basically chilled out and ate the taipoica chips there =p before deciding to go for basketball at aycc, met magdalene on my way there (she was on her way to NUH)

haha the bus i was on was like breaking down, so the bus driver took out the number plate on the front and sides! win! express service heh =p

tuesday -
resolved to wake up earlier but ended up procrasinating my hair cut and photo for my admission forms, ended up going to qshop ard 5 and hanging out there till 8 and back to century to shoot a few racks with jo and jere. had quite a bit of mind, so pool was a pleasant but insufficient distraction.

witnessed 3 fender benders through the day, one on my way to the shop, one near the shop and one on my way to century. sheesh. i was jokin with lisa that i should walk home so i wouldn't be in one then.

wednesday -
electricians and carpenters came by in the morning to fix up the loose ends and the new lighting! 95% done. left with the painters on the 8th of march to finish up. new lights are pretty (: glad i have better taste than my designer =p hahahaha!
and it rained the entire day! met gee and headed to century for a couple of sets, won 7-6, 6-7, 7-4 for a 2-1 victory. ok lah both of us were shooting quite off, he was rusty, i was erm...distracted. since i thot bball was off, played a set with sebas (won 7-5 but i didn't really play well lah) and then headed to jq's to play table tennis. didn't get to repeat monday morning's domination =p (perhaps chem A does help ;)

ok two incidents that pissed me off today, i was waiting for a cab and it was raining. i saw this woman who was flaggin cabs down but they didn't wanna take her fare (dunno why) and then she would step back into the shelter and wait till the next wave of cabs came. normally i would give whoever is there earlier the cab, but since she didn't want to wait for it in the rain and kept going back i decided to just stand there. when i got the first cab, she literally jumped up behind me and said, "excuse me, but i came first." jumped into the cab and drove off. the hell man. you want the cab, you stand in the rain for it.

then JUST NOW my half-wit, brainless neighbour comes over and knocks on my door demanding that something from my house woke him up. when asked what it was, he said "i dunno" geez he couldn't open his windows to find out something downstairs was making that noise. but just pinned blame on us. get a life dude.

btw...have to make an insanely long trip to paya lebar to collect my cue becuz the company refinishing it forgot to follow my instructions =/

owells hopefully pictures come out tmrw!

OH AND IF YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE PLAN FOR THE CAGE ON MY BIRTHDAY CONTACT ME!

crapcrapcrap

soccer today was bad. losing 10-2 even in an exhibition was just no reason for a bad perfomance.

no squad discipline at all, we were all over the place.

my ankles feel like they are 33 years old. old and wearing out.

anyways, some people need to remember its not that easy to organize an event, let alone a last minute one. murmuring and complaining really does NOT go easy on the ears esp if that person has put it effort to run it well.

in short, if you think you can do better, why not volunteer to do it in the first place instead of complaining?

the CAGE again

went down today and had a blast, except for the part where i twisted my ankle while trying to cross and it got caught on the netting.

not bad, nice touches, great teammates heh. got winded by my own teammate in the end too. took a ball into the chest..ouch.

this weak old body is not meant for crazy stuff anymore :(

feeling old.. body dying

heh ever felt so out of breath? I did and after two solid games. Was playing @ the CAGE with sheva and friends, came in one game and was so "zhuan" (out of breath) by the 3rd game. maybe i've gotta lay off the lunch or push it back heh.

apart from that soccer @ the CAGE was quite fun. played overally well and topped off with a goal (haha..still can't beat sat's tally of 8?)

anyways, decided to do something a lil crazy and go for basketball that evening as well. Paid the price on thurs morning, waking up like a bag of bones.

so playing again just a while later @ the CAGE. heh to those who don't know what it is, please go and check it out sometime, http://www.thecage.com.sg

giving away and getting it back

the title is double ended.

well, last night went to play a bit of MJ (as per my mum's side CNY norm, and no i didn't gamble! all i played for was my place on the table) well, as the title goes, i had a decent enough game, my hands were all relatively good and i mean good.. just that i could never win it :(

really! any card i gave away would come back and haunt me like i shouldn't have. and i would only get the card i need, if i threw the connecting card away -_-

apart from that, got back home and a family from church came by to help us with the packing and bringing the boxes from outside the home in. now my living room is full of boxes! gave away abt 9 boxes worth of toys, books and random stuff to the salvation army. thanks Zhuang for the van.

have to shop for lights later and there's soccer at 2am =/ have to catch my sleep here and there again.

of gashes and skin

Soccer today was great apart from the rain which came and went thrice. Played right through it and enjoyed myself though, best moments were before the rain where I somehow managed to "ole" one guy, turn another and slot the ball into the goal :P

the bad moments were actually BEFORE the game. ran to pick up a ball and fell forward onto the drain covers and ground. that makes it twice in 4 days -_-

scratches and small wounds on the left palm and a 3 cm wound on the right. at least now both knees are balanced, hahaha!

apart from that, ain't celebrating CNY this year but well there's quite a lot to do at home. when does (un)packing ever end?!

so to all readers, Happy Chinese New Year!

90% Complete

Here's an update for now.

Carpenters came by the first 3 days to do up all the new furniture and
cupboards etc.

SO i finally have a new bed to sleep on after "squatting" on 3 chairs to sleep
every night (looking much like a homeless person sleeping on the benches at the park)

anyways, minor screw-up with the tv/video sigh. so no tv as yet. hopefully it will be fixed soon!

On other notes, YF beat FEBC/Gethsamane at the Lorong Lew Lian Field 3-1! (:

I owe photos and i'm lazy :P

Let me get through the last bit of renovation work before I post them.

If you thought packing was hard, unpacking is actually much much harder!

4th day

4th day of renovations and i can't wait for things to get back to normal. pictures coming soon.

day 1 - removers

heh they basically cleared out the entire house. and my room which was full of trash. I kid you not. 7 black rubbish bags full of rubbish and not counting my bed, 2 set of shelves behind my bed, cupboard,  cabinet, desk and shelf on my desk.

so started the day with everything and rubbish, ended the day with just my window and mattresses.

day 2 - electricians

actually the most slack day so far, except for the power cut when they were doing the wiring, i had pretty much nothing to do.

day 3 - painters pt 1

was quite ok, gave my room and my mum's new colours. it was the after that i got so tired of. had to clean up and wipe down the places they were gonna paint.

day 4 - painters pt 2

finished up the rooms and toilets and started on the living room. must say i did think one of them is more skilled and the other sloppy. alot of areas to clean up -_- like what happened to the good idea of using masking tape so you wouldn't overpaint?

the main wall isn't done, put 2 coats of red but it didn't go very nice. looks set of a 3rd coat after the carpenters are done.

well so far its progressing fairly well. still a few kinks here and there to iron out. haha..i wonder what would happen on day 5 when we have to move the contents of the two rooms out into the living room, they are currently full of the stuff from the living room. and yes, the kitchens have more boxes than i ever remember seeing in my home.

next post will be pics and an exclusive on how i sleep in this mess heh.

first day of renovations

arghhss..ever spent the entire night packing?

well i did. and I never knew that I had that much junk in my room (well i did, but i refuse to acknowledge that it was my junk :p)

anyways, my room is completely empty now, save for the windows.

and as they were hacking away the cupboards and desk, i was feeling a tad strange, like they were hacking at my childhood. heh. owells.
