what is the law for?
Evangelist Fred Brown used three images to describe the purpose of the law.
First he likened it to a dentist's little mirror, which he sticks into the patient's mouth. With the mirror he can detect any cavities. But he doesn't drill with it or use it to pull teeth. It can show him the decayed area or other abnormality, but it can't provide the solution.
Brown then drew another analogy. He said that the law is also like a flashlight. If suddenly at night the lights go out, you use it to guide you down the darkened basement stairs to the electrical box. When you point it toward the fuses, it helps you see the one that is burned out. But after you've removed the bad fuse, you don't try to insert the flashlight in its place. You put in a new fuse to restore the electricity.
In his third image, Brown likened the law to a plumbline. When a builder wants to check his work, he uses a weighted string to see if it's true to the vertical. But if he finds that he has made a mistake, he doesn't use the plumbline to correct it. He gets out his hammer and saw.
The law points out the problem of sin; it doesn't provide a solution.
- Fred Brown
got this thru sis eena's daily bible gems, and i thot it really made sense so i'll share it with you pple :)

the arm's still there
op was alright..quite smooth in fact, thank God for seeing me thru it :) lots of funny experiences after though..
first it was after they wheeled me to the ward, me having just recovered from ga and stuff, still groggy and blur and very thirsty. see op was at 12, woke up 1st time at 3, ward by 3.30. so basically drifted in and out of dreamless sleep, waking every 30-40 mins. and what was i waking up for? heh..usually there's a bottle/flask/pot of water by your bedside, but they haven't given it to me yet. so i would open my eyes, look for the pot and if it wasn't there, go right back to sleep. so right ard 5, i woke up and it was there! haha...have never felt more motivated to wake up. so i struggled up and stuff (with one arm it ain't no walk in the park), and then i realised..i can't reach it! AAAAaaaaaaaaaaaHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhh!! luckily, the bed beside mine had some visitors and one of them helped me with it lol. thanks man! :) so happily gulped down water like free..half an hour and many cups later, i had finished almost the entire pot. HEE HEE!
then for the next wierd thing, my mum really seemed to have a good time, cuz with one good arm its hard to feed yourself =P so she ended up feeding me (dinner, ice cream, lunch) and she enjoyed it la. she said it was sth like a 2nd childhood lol. maybe cuz when i was young (or when you are young) your/my mum would feed us and then we would be naughty and stuff and refuse or take our time haha..but it was quite smooth, actually finished my food in like 15-20 mins flat. partly that the dinner that day was not too bad and that i was uber hungry! :P
next up were the visits by jq, sarah tang, william. lol..they came really really late and after visiting hours too heh. talked, had fun poking fun at others (i think that was only me haha..), and luckily no one thot of attackin me in my vulnerable position :P but yeah it was a good time for me :) thanks for the cheer or i'll so bored whiling my time away in there.
anyways me on mc till the 27th, *prays for extension*
update you all..arm's tired already heh :P
btw westin's msn nick is roflmao, "the new Pope's been chosen from China, and his name is Popiah" then while talking he went that he's got it wrong, it should have been, " the new Pope's been chosen from India, and his name is Popadum"
LOL! rofles! =D

tennis got cancelled so...
sooooo..made an about turn and went for rjc's band concert thingy.. thanks aunty margaret for the tix! :)
anyways it was quite good..didn't regret the rush to get to the esplanade on time (i was 3 mins late - you can't believe that it took 14 mins to get to the city area and 9 mins to turn to esplanade) had nice seats, the accoustics in the place were well the best i've heard..however abit of a deadzone ard the front, missed hearing a couple of instruments esp when the entire band was playing (eg see the instrument being played, but miss the sound)
anyways, silly trivial.. the person who plays a flute is a flutist, the one playing the bass a bassist, what about the one playin the oboe?

analogies of a thinking mind.
we're commuters and we all have some money in our ez link cards, we can board the mrt train to our desired (dream) destination, but for most of us, it'll cost too much and we can only stand on the inside and can't leave the station. the twist is that some of us will think of ways to get the money to get out and live our dreams and some of us would just take another train and stop at a destination we desire less and have the fare to go out.
interesting way of looking at things rite?
another analogy of lives and trains is this by junhao (one of my soccer mates),
we cannot board the train we want. like there are express trains, short trains and cheaper trains but we experience different things when we board each one. though the time taken may be different, but we learn different things that are valuable to our lives..
some food for thought :)
thoughts running thru my head..
anyway, 2 questions i like to pose to anyone reading and hopefully you could gimme your honest opinions.
1) what is the most important aspect of a poolhall to you? a) location b) equipment c) ambience d) others? (elaborate)
2) what facilities should a poolhall have?
thanks! :)
also anyone who knows anyone or themselves who have experience with people oriented businesses or with starting business, just like to find out more and get your/their opinions and hear about their experiences.

vrooooooommmmm
one word to describe how i'm feeling now. just "wow." first time i took a ride in a silvia (nissan s-15) and omgomgomgomg the feeling is just incredublous. galvin did like 2 tries at acceleration, first one went to 100km/h in like roughly 5 secs (felt like 3), the second was up to 120km/h in like ard 5-6..the g-force and the thrust were like "wahhhh" i'm having the shakes all over..
the car's pretty (well to me), cept for the spoiler..the car looks like stock but well under that hood..woah..! the interior's like well squeezy but the dash..looks better in the day..cept for the dials which were swweeeeeeeeettt! anyway i'm being promised photos of the now and then the after the makeover ^^
anyway, pool at his place was really good..the cues were all really pretty but i still like my via the best ;) upload the photos when i can..
anyway have fun ya'll for the touch rugby/football tmrw..sian..i'll be stuck in camp, thanks to some contractors who can only come in on fri and sat -___- and being a tss i can only take orders. ah wells at least i get tuesday off if there's any consolation in that. *sigh*
its 2 and i doubt i can sleep after the ride. WOOOOHOOOOOOO!
btw if you see a black nissan silvia with the number plate SFG1551L, wave and drool :P

anyway today was the sending off dinner for johan, at rocky's and the pizzas good! :) *yum* what was better was the after dinner entertainment i guess, "Wednesday Nite LIVE! with the GTD". started out with grace getting the talk and then to dawn then to michelle and suddenly to me? abit wierd la..but GTD well, he's got a mind of his own. so well describe joel lim (me) in one word and the question went ard the table, SOOooooooooooooOOOooo..according to everyone i'm a "skinny, thrashed, dual (ORIGINAL!), short, *hahahahah*, *shrugs*, faithful, clever, ord-oh" person.
well done! :) alright had a blast tonight..
tiredd...and have to go back to camp tmrw.. *pulls long face*

nice and stupid
also i've no affinity with pools. well to cut the long story short, tennis was great..45 mins of good running and smacking balls with jon's new racket (i want!!) and kang's racket and then after we taupok-ed jon heh.
so after being taupok-ed, logically being the birthday boy, we would throw him into the pool. well he got into the pool anyway..even though we promised him dry shoes and socks, he tried to tussle and well his fault anyway..now here's where the fine line comes.
he asks for help to get out of the pool..so as a nice guy, i would give my hand to him to help him up rite? wrong.. i help him up he pulls me in for his 2nd dip and my first. ;__; best la i got wet shoes and socks laaaaa..shirt and shorts i have but shoes..ughhhh!! anyway for the record, he went in a 3rd time. a personal present from me ;)

ugghhhhhhhhhhhhh
woke up this morning with this pain in the left side, had to like take a shit 3 times to clear the pain. but now its like a general pain across the stomach, with the left side still a bit sore. geez dunnoe what could be wrong. cuz the previous two days were like diarrheoa days or sth. wierd feelings then bomb the toilet every 2 hours.
arghhs..anyway, the via i've been waiting for for so long is finally here! heh got it last thurs :) will try to get some photos of it soon. much to lazy and can't seem to find the rite time to get take some of it. but its beeeauutifullllllll! :) plays well too, nice solid hit with no resistance to your stroke..anyway more when i get to know my cue better heh. then comes the big dilenma, p2 or via?

waiting...for the floor to dry
anyways been awhile since i last blogged..got a couple of stuff going on heh. watched a couple of movies (actually 2) and well got some comments i thot i'd share. hope it doesn't a) stumble anyone, b) offend anyone with my comments, c) encourage any stupid acts that i won't condone (check with me please ;) .. well sort of a disclaimer though, and partly i feel there's a freedom of speech/writing and it may not just be a pleasing sight to some but owells..
"hitch" was rather funny, not really that funny and romantic but had a good mix..the advice is well *rolls eyes* logical, yet comical. and at the end of the day, its just about following your heart..hmmms like basic man, just that the movie takes you on a thrill ride to get to it, at least its a ride in like a normal car not some soupped up racer heh :P
watched "passion of the christ" tonight at jq's place. well..i've got my views and frankly, its just wrong..the protrayal, the script, the characters, the 'action' is so hollywood-ish..firstly, its as they say, you wanna sell, you gotta sell it the wide and broad way and we all know where that leads.. secondly, doctrinally, there are some major glaring errors..i didn't feel a single bit of spiritual movement, cuz it didn't feel right..right from the first scene, it just reeks of commercialism. thirdly, you can say "director's interpretation" i say "pure hambug", its fine if you interpret LoTR the book way vs the movie way, or any book - movie..but when you're talking about sth like the God who became a man to die for my sins, and taking it so lightly, then its pure &^#@$(%$@#
if i watch a movie for entertainment value and because it contains that, its fine with me. to watch something so blasphemous like that and not stand against it, then something's wrong with me. if you nice readers do have sth against what i've just posted, sorry i guess we're all entitled to our own opinion, do drop a msg or comment and tell me about it. would really love to hear and discuss about it, its always good to learn :)
gotta sleep soon, soccer @ 9!

twins!
long long time ago, in the land we call Singapore, there was a pair of cojoined twins, whose names were Joel. interestingly, they were co-joined at the ankle, both had seperate bodies and living systems but were joint at the ankle. thus as the birth parents had not the finances to undertake the operation to seperate them, they put them up for adoption. two couples came along and after some discussion decided to adopt the twins after they were seperated and pay for the operation. the operation was a success and now you have two seperate Joels. since then, we have seen them and they're Joel Quah and Joel Lim. both wear ankle braces to this day, one on his right and the other on his left.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
sorry =P its a big joke HEH!
no lah i'm just wearing an ankle brace to see if it helps my ankle to get stronger..don't believe any part of the story..i'm just phibbing =D

stupid master sergeant just there to screw up my day and my entire routine. i'm so damn pissed off and so really fustrated. i'm sick and tired of her ordering me and the other guys ard, falsely accusing us of things, having us to ineffecient work and then complainin we're causing her perfect system to not work out. pple like that aught to be done away with.
waste my time.

sighhh
his tumor is in the same region as the last two times. because of its location and too close to the spine and spinal cord, they can't zap the cancer with radiotherapy. also he has had 2 bouts of RT and it hasn't seemed to kill the cancer. also because of the region its in, they can't do surgery because they can't possibly move the backbone to get to it. now the last option, chemo. they can't use the 1st line drug on him due to the fact his body nor the dialysis machine can dialyise it properly, so they can't give it to him. they're only available option now is a 2nd-line drug which they feel is not curative.
thus their focus now is no longer on curing his cancer but to delay and push back the onset of it. the survival rate from the docs is on the average is 30% after 5 years.
broken..lost..alone.
i just want you to know who i am

i'm useless.
now.. on the verge of adulthood, joel realises how things have changed. now he shirks reponsibilities, doing the minimum and walks off. he is unresponsive, sometimes lost in the world of his own. what brought about this change?
yes..thats me talking about me. can't even seem to make good a simple promise of taping a msg that would benefit others, its like not making the extra effort to do it. i could have done so much to prevent all this from happenin and no, not once did i contemplate doing it till after, by then ,as we always know, is too late.
my dad's not really doing better. he just got the doctor's word that the growth which was in his neck is really a tumour and a cancerous one. its like just another blow which he and my family are reeling from. mum was crying, i was dazed. after all the hopes and wishes for a soon return, turn to a feeling of helplessness and despair.
and yes, similarly to helping a friend and helping my dad, i find myself useless.
simple tasks i can't fulfil for a friend, difficult task to fulfil for my dad, that i know i have already failed.
life doesn't seem to hold the meaning to whys, whats, whos, wheres, hows anymore to me. especially when i know i can't.

down and out
anyway updates. dad's op is a success, even though the docs didn't manage to screw the plate into his neck, they managed to stabilise the neck so that he won't ever need to go for another op again. he was moved to a HD (High Dependency) ward on sat and stayed there till monday where he's now at ward 22 bed 8, in a normal ward. so his condition is improving. thank God :) and also thank you for your prayers. on behalf of my family, thank you for the emotional, spiritual, financial, physical support thats been coming from all of you :) may God bless you.
on the other end, i've been so tired..falling sick quite often. in fact, its like the 2nd week, i'm carrying this cough and bad nose. hope i recover soon.
i'm gonna be 21 in a week, and boy, i'm starting to feel really old..well, when i didn't blog i wrote. so maybe i'll leave you all with some part of what i wrote.
"been such a long time, emotionally, mentally, spiritually, physically. dad's been in hospital since the 11th. i haven't been more exhausted in my life. been acting so strong yet feeling so weak, so in want of companionship and yet feeling the need to be all alone, having the fear of losing someone i hold dear but yet never daring to make the move, wanting to trust but always so cynical." @ 220205 1605hrs

time alone.
i'm numb, hurt and right now, don't know how to feel cuz its happening all over again.
tired. bone-weary. and can't be bothered with how good the show was.
so don't talk me now. i've got too much on mind and i just don't wanna feel or think anymore. not now. not ever.

screwed up medical system
i've got a bad ankle that gives me pain when i walk and what does my mo do? he feels it, presses and ask whether i feel pain from where, where do i feel the pain, then gives me a status i don't need (like what would i need 5 days excused lower limb activities when i've had this pain for 2 weeks?) the polyclinic doc's one better..he doesn't even press to check, he looks, then lifts the ankle and begins interrogating me on my lifestyle (what the hell? i don't think he knows whats wrong with the ankle at all in the first place) then he tells me the saf is better equipped to deal with it and sends me away with a dumb memo, no mc, no timesheet, no medicine. and i would bet, no idea of what is wrong with me.
sure being a doctor's no walk in the park but they like both are like super bo chap, they see, prod then come up with something that doesn't remotely sound like the problem (or don't even tell you the problem), one wonders why one should report sick and come out even more confused.
what the hell..waste my bloody time and now i'm stuck with nothing. )(@&)($&@#
stupid mo's.

AGHHHHHHHH
ok after a fantastic day. i just realised i dropped my phone. and guess what i just found it like an hour after i dropped it. don't worry it ain't stolen. its just been run over.
F*()@#&)!@()K*#$^@()@!*
tiring tennis
(hahah any day that master S is around is a good day..! :)
anyways, yeap S wasn't ard so heh as they say "when the cat is out, the mice begin to play" so play we did. there's like worms2 on my office com haha..and we're all playin it today, till it got a lil bit out of hand. and yeah though there was some work and running ard to do, well its not really that bad. surprisingly i went without a cup of kopi the entire day which i think is quite sth for myself (been drinking 1-2 kopis everyday for the past 2 weeks). ok la..end result i slept on the way to the mrt station but heh :)
thats where the day took another twist and heh while waiting for dn chia to pick me up outside yck to go to jq's place, i met lisa, who was waitin for zhuang to pick her up to go to jq's place, lol. like how 'qiao'. anyways turns out she ponned training cuz she's lazy (tsk tsk..) lol.
anyways tennis was good, think i improved a lil bit today. went thru 3 basketful of balls (think 3 * 60 = 180!!!) before william came and was already sorta tired out by that. gotta work on that timing. hitting the balls too late so can't control the direction it goes, at least the backhand's showing some improvement at last. really got pushed to the limit by dn chia hahaha, but its true its a faster way to improve (like another 10 sessions i should play like him... RITE!)
later tennis became a more fun thing haha..not so serious and a lot of monkeying around like ultra mini-tennis at the net with zhuang heh. or playing volleys (yeap..OUCH!) or just running ard picking balls off the court while they're still at play (actually we were trying to get them to go off earlier instead of draggin till too late ;)
and yeah i'm quite shaggd and bound to ache and groan tmrw (confirm + chop + guarantee!) but at least i've exercised my fill for the night and well..they said hard work on the court, sweet dreams in bed, i'll see if thats for real.
besides i need my rest, i'm the temporary i/c for resource tmrw (my two sergeants are off to tekong hahhahahhahahaha =D where the mozzies will eat them alive! teh horrars!!!)
Wednesday, January 26, 2005
sai kang...is never good for health
one moment re-writing the formats list, next i'm running ard doing stuff. its been awhile since it got this busy.
anyway "highlight" of the day was maintanence of the CPR room. basically means, sweep, mop, rinse, repeat. half the time, some of the guys were just using eye-power (like me, she just told me to hold the door open - so i did and thats abt all i did). so like why waste my time when i have other important stuff to do? *grumbles*
anyways, work got done, everyone's happy. i'm rather annoyed i had to bring the chairs in and 5 mins later out again but well..at the very least she won't come hounding ard resource anytime soon (i hope! =D)
gotta start sleeping earlier :P hard but true. 5 mins difference in bus = 25 mins difference in reaching camp. tough but true.
Friday, January 21, 2005
boo...boo...boo...
anyways..soccer in the morning's great..haha..for once too many pple turned up. had abt 4 teams of 5 lol (ed: 3 teams of 5 and 1 team of 5 + 1 kid) and like the action's good. hmmms maybe that had to do with my team staying on the pitch for an extended period :) had a blast and a nice tone i think. can't really see whether i'm burnt or tanned :P
went back, zipped off to suntec to get my oaks fixed and whooo! they're looking good now. at least i don't get oil marks on my lens anymore ^^ went to hmv, listend ard and (although the movie is a letdown) the elektra ost's nice :) got great tunes to rock to. then off to kino to meet everyone else and then yeah the movie.
after the movie, headed to marche to celebrate zhuang's birthday. dude, gotta lighten up man! don't be so uptight over those kinda things :) we're old already, must be able to look over/thru such rubbish heh.
blessed birthday dude :)

sierra square, delta square
ok lets have this guy named T. now T is no ordinary TSS (Temp Support Staff..which you should all know by now), he is the slackest one in my wing. why do i say so? simply, he got transferred from the office to the resource and he hasn't done much.
see from monday, he has only done what M (who is also another slacker...but with rank) has asked him to do and that only took him an hour. so for the rest of monday, he was a) sleeping, b) "meditating" with his head on a toilet roll, c) reading last month's magazine. when i asked T to sweep the library, all i got was this blank, stoned look but no work done. when my sergeant asked me to ask him to call up those people who owes us stuff from the T-Loan file, he said he'll do it but i've got no way to check, because when my sergeants asked him, he said some said, they return/renewed/never borrowed/not free, BUT couldn't specify who said what. so how to know he called? can't check all rite?
so nvm..i left it as that. so today, he was a stoning mission. basically just sat there in his chair and STONED the entire morning. didn't clear the desk when my sergeant made a remark abt the untidy desk, didn't bother to even move aside so i could get some stationery. wow. and the best part is when we were all counting the formats in the publications room, he just stood there like sir stanford raffles, arms folded and all and didn't help out at all.
my goodness, no wonder the permstaff doesn't like him. 3 days with the guy and i'm happy to get him out of my face. such lousy attitude, would prob serve him right if he gets screwed at his next posting. so darn pissed off.

meet the fockers
anyways been alright lah..haven't blogged since the year started. dunno why, seems to have lost this sense of writing. bogged down by this feeling of sian-ness. it seems that life seems more complete now for me in a way that i've got nothing more to share with the readers and/or its been too "normal"
haha.."normal" = wake up early early + go to camp + do sai kang + relac-one-corner + 2x tea break + 1x lunch + 1x book-out + go home/out/play/class. or at least thats what i define as normal for now.
at least i'm making a bit of effort in reading up JJR (Joshua, Judges, Ruth) for the thurs nite's nite class :) the notes are really helping but they're quite deep so hmmmm.. *ponders*
its wierd how a random event can change things..? like when you're letting things slide into normalcy and something just decides to come along and rake it up. hope there won't be a misunderstanding all over again and stuff but well i'll cross the bridge when i come to it. (any other advice just beep me on msn :) thanks)
tag me pple..lemme know who's still alive :)

Blessed New Year 2005!

ocean's twelve
i'm quite convinced in my mind that its a good show, cuz i felt it was a good show. haha..well no matter wat pple have said and newspaper have written (actually the former said bad, the latter good), i thought it was good! certainly worth the 6.50 i paid (or more?)
cast is quite all star and the so-slick moves heh. humour was alright without going too overboard and the storyline's quite to my liking :)
anyways things i learnt today, a) 4 player xbox games are uber fun =D. b) there's a nice gear shop at beach road. c) there's a button on the cash thingie at cartel for "cut into 4" (ie if you wanna share food or sth). d) gv has some problems printing tickets in order - seat 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 3, 10, 11.
anyway, next on the to-catch list is "meet the fockers" haha..when you guys wanna catch it?
Tuesday, December 28, 2004
i'm radioactive!
ookiee, first i thought it would just be i sit or lie down on sth and then go thru some machine and since they said it would take 4-5 hours i thot i would fall asleep or my legs would just die haha. well i was wrong and right in some sense.. wrong that i would stay there for 4-5 hours, right that i would have to go under some machine.
so, i had this jab and some questions to answer, following which the nurse/doc told me i'm free to go but have to be back by 1515hrs. also she warned me to keep away from pregnant women, to which i questioned and then the jaw-dropper was that because i'm now radio-active! -___-
anyways went out with jq and then LAN-ed a bit and then headed back and then in 20 mins i was done! haha..then called back and then the msgt told me since its raining so heavily and its at ttsh then i didn't have to go back haha.. so quite well done. bad part is, my temp pass is stuck in camp so i'll figure something soon.
gonna catch ocean's twelve tmrw! and kinda looking forward to it since i heard that it was coming out :) hope it lives up to my expectations (been hearing not too good reviews but optimistic =P)
Friday, December 24, 2004
blessed Christmas to you :)
so yeap..haven't had the inspiration to write much this couple of days, unfortunately due to the fact i'm just nua-ing in office =P hopefully that'll change soon and heh well the year 2005 is coming soon ;)
anyways wishing one and all a blessed Christmas! :)

nite cycling!
well, during those times there were 2 movies which i caught. one bombed and the other rocked. so between "blade trinity" and "national treasure", which do you think bombed and which one rocked? tag me abt it.
so apart from that and late night suppers and mass (ok not that large) gatherings, there was "work" to be done in the day. not that i really did much, besides sweeping the room, the lecture rooms and dumping the rubbish, issusing the keys and getting them back..i've not really been doing much. mostly, its a good book then rest when i get tired and *poof!* off to lalaland i go.
anyways, tonight had night cycling to orchard. think its an almost yearly affair. group got a bit bigger than last year's, still had some of the pple who went last year, for a total of 15 (actually 11, 4 met us at the destination but they count too!) This year's bikers were james, angeline, lisa, dawn, johan, kang, tim, danny, walther and debbie (chee meng, zuhui, adrain, carolyn met us there). heh. so quite a good group. was supposedly one large happy group but turned out to become 2 groups of contrasting values. one was mean and fast (the guys really - kang, johan, danny, tim, me) and the other gentler and slow (the rest of the 11) heh. there was a period we were so far ahead that we could turn ard and wait for them :P surprising this year was a bit early (we started at 9) and thus human traffic at town was slightly more crowded and also we were done ard 3 so thats kinda short =D anyways, i had westin's bike (which although has it shortcomings, i still think its uber cool) that helped alot :) a good bike really makes any journey short heh.
anyways some random thoughts. since this blog was started a year ago, i realised that at this time last year, i was probably at my emotional lowest (which was later even depressed by my dad's illness in jan) and yet this year, i can't seem to feel low, even i had wanted to. pardon my illogical musings, its nearly 5 in the morning heh. and there's prob still a lot of sugar in my blood stream heh. but yeah..how things work out hmmm?

~ back
the testimony from rev heng, the msg on 'a Christian's speech', and most importantly, the morning msgs by elder seah where the ones that really inspired me the most. how God can use a normal, simple man to show the power of God just amazes me. i feel he really speaks from the heart as God's mouth piece and yes, thank the Lord, i'm really inspired. (:
object lessons were interesting and different. it may have been lessons learnt long before but a new idea when it was done. lastly, food and accomadation and logistics were well settled. a big thank you goes out to the camp comm :) you've done a wonderful job.
to those who have gone, please remember the precious lessons that have been given, the fun times we had in camp, and all the activities. most importantly, remember our Creator :)
brought back 2 acronyms to sum up camp.
first one is what we should do in our fellowship,
E xample to others
N uturing each other spiritually
C aring
O peness
U n-judgemental
R eadiness to help
A wareness
G raciousness
E steeming each other better than ourselves
second one is for what lies ahead for the Christian,
H eaven
O vercoming Death
P eace that passeth all understanding
E ternal Life
its been wonderful being a Christian, no matter what can happen, you know its in hands that are so great that if He could create the world from dust, He'll know every single thing you will do in any situation that comes your way. i've been a Christian for many years and i've never looked back and said i want to give it up for anything. true that i've been thru a lot in the past few years. i've had my fair share of girl problems, my dad has kidney failure and nose cancer and i've got friends who have let me down time and again, or friends whom i have misplaced my trust. but at this point in the road, i can say its all been good. and i hope one day, you will come to put your trust and faith to this man named Jesus, and i can assure you, He is one friend who will never misplace your trust and faith in, unlike your mortal friends (even me!) because in Hebrews 13:8, "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today and forever." if you do need to talk abt this, i'll always be on my fone ready to help :)
anyways, i got my posting which goes like this,

well, i wasn't very happy when i got it. i think i'm better now. afterall (which i forgot when i saw it and was so upset, and shows how mortal i am), was that God has it all planned out and He'll show me and lead me in His perfect time.
anyways i'm just got back earlier on from a wedding dinner of someone i respected in my area of service and haha..the food and ambience was good. but the dessert fantastic! it was a dessert buffet and had all manners of desserts from fruits to traditional desserts to ice cream (which i tell you can 'fight' with haagen daz) to cakes (the choc mousse cake was heavenly), puddings and such. but the one that took the cake (pardon the pun) was the fountain of chocolate. warm, thick, flowing chocolate! fondue style. it was absolutely the sight to look at and then to taste it, heavenly!
haha shan't tempt you any further. =Þ anyways talking abt God's timing. well i guess, i'm just a Christian first, a soldier second. so regarding relationships, well i'm not good at that but well in God's timing. cuz well i did tell this someone (you who know, know. you who don't, please don't probe. if i tell you i'll tell you in time) whom i've liked for some time how i felt and well at the way my ns life has taken another turn, its good the way it currently is. whether the feeling is mutual or not, is something i leave not in my hands but in the hands of my God.
lastly, i hope this spiritual high would last me till church camp in june (which i really hope to go for and hope to get the off for) and then also if you wanna see the journal abt "The Life of a PES C Soldier/Slacker" you may get it at all popular bookstores ard the island =Þ haha..not! but you can ask me for it if you wish.

back at home for one last book out
quite shaggd..see it starts with fieldcraft, then range (3 days), then fieldcraft, then grenade, then field camp (4 days 1 nite), with CO evening, OC evening and CO master parade stuck in between, and lastly games day.
actually..i slacked thru field camp lah haha..but went for mostly everything else. and i suku suku know i somehow or rather cannot take it for trench digging and i still go. smart rite? haha..fantastic. got bruises and blisters and the dumb trench was so undone. nuts man. dig for so long also didn't get the darn thing fully done. and like wat took 6 hours to dig took me half and hour to cover up. zz.
anyways, this is my last book out before i pop or poc (i think my coy is poc lah..all 'pikachus' how to parade?) hahah...brought most of my stuff back too. like my webbing, helmet, spare boots, some uniforms haha..gonna try to survive on 2 sets of uniform for the next 5 days.
think i'm quite shaggd/concussed from all the shouting and noise of the games day. thing is raven didn't win anything, it came close to winning tug-of-war but didn't, and we only participated in 2 games so yeah. and lastly, we almost had a huge gang fight with foxtrot haha..well so did pegasus and delta hahaha...
met jon there and he's like booking out only tmrw at 6 so heh. got some reason to cheer :P hahaha..

3rd day of freedom
woke up late (hahah!) then bummed ard at home, in front of the laptop, in front of the xbox (my prrreecciioooousssssssssssssss! ;) before heading out for lunch with my parents. went to novena there, had lunch at the food court, where i realised all my food cravings (
still got the stuff that one of my section mates helped to buy for field camp, think i got most of the stuff i need heh. anyways turns out the evening was rainy =/ heh nice lah but i think i'll prob not like to be wet during field camp lorh..besides where i am, i doubt there's the CAT 1 siren (its like when there's lightning, siren would sound and this computerised voice would go "CAT 1, CAT 1" and if the weather gets better, another siren would sound and the same voice would say, "normal weather, normal weather". but i digress) yeah so i'll get wet and try to keep warm in my basha which hopefully won't collapse on me in the middle of a thunderstorm and hopefully won't have any holes so it leaks -_-
got to yf nice and dry in my
he gave the example of that he believes that there's a man called arnold swarcehowyouspellhisname (although he can't believe that he's a governor..LOL!), he believes that that man is real, alive and a living person..BUT he (preacher) doesn't know him! he hasn't talked to arnold, hasn't rode in the same vehicle, hasn't shared a problem with him, doesn't know personal information abt arnold at all! so quite a good example, ya? another good example is taken from James 2:19 "Thou believest there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble." which is true isn't it? we can believe but if we do not strive to know then our faith might be in vain!
see thats the problem with Christians and pple he says, we believe there's a God. Christians accept and believe in God, but we stop there and say that its enough to just believe in God. but NO! its not! see its not enough to believe in God alone, we must know God too! its like growing, you believe you will grow, but if you don't eat the right stuff and don't exercise and etc etc etc, then you just won't grow. just like a Christian's growth, its stunted and in worse cases, we backslide or shrink! cuz if we think we do know God and thus not need to know more, from 1 cor 8:2-3 (which actually talks abt food offered to idols but there's a lesson to be learnt) its says, "v2 and if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know. v3 But if any man love God, the same is known of him." really makes sense cuz sometimes in army, we feel we know something when actually we don't and then jump to conclusions and thus get into trouble. and the same for the Christian! if one thinks he knows everything then actually there's so much more to learn and to know. (i think, you thought. you think, i thought. i confirm, you confine!)
so too know God, we must search or dig just like in Proverbs 2:1-9, but taking from v4 "If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures," he (preacher) liken it to when you search for gold/diamonds, you have to dig and have to know where to dig and that the gold/diamonds would be in a ugly state and then you have to purify it to see the real beauty/shine. in Hosea 6:1-3, he talks abt that when we leave our first love for God that we must return to Him and that He will "bind us up" (or heal our wounds), and that we "then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord:"
see also John 8:28-32, where Jesus preached, and in v30 "As he spake these words, many believed on him." and in v32 after Jesus had said that if they believe, they should carry on and follow him to be His disciples and that "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." do we want to chained to that iron ball of sin? or set free to live life anew? he ended off with Matthew 7:15-23, where at the judgement seat, many would say that they have believed in Jesus in v22 "Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name, and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?" then these "ravening wolves in sheep's clothing" the Lord will say, "I never knew thee: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." what a frightful/sad day that would be when you realise that you've just been professing that you knew God but deep down, its just head and not heart knowledge.
following which he talked abt temperance, which is basically self control. he brought up the issue of that when jails were built, they were 10 times the size of what they needed and yet 10 years down the road, the jails are full! and they have to build more and bigger ones! this is he says, is due to the lack of self-control! he raised up that he used to drink before he was saved, and it runs thru the family (the love of drink), but after he was saved, he chose not only NOT to drink but also to stay away from even a glass of wine at a meal, because it would cause him to lust for more. now thats self control! in short, you don't tempt yourself to sin. in Galatians 5:16-18 "v16 This i say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. v17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. v18 But if ye be led by the Spirit, ye are not under the law." the flesh/mind wants its cravings and if you are silly enough, you'll let yourself have it, eg. you're sick but you still go and eat junk food and not medicine.
well, when he was talking abt the temperance, i reflected upon my NS so far, and at a place where punctuations can be vulgarities and the songs we have to sing, the insults we have to put up with. sometimes, inside me i wanna lash out saying those things and i struggle within myself. i dunno how successful it has been but i've been able to curb vulgar langauge from my vocab cept for one or two (and hopefully, not more) occassions when i just let my guard down and just say it, only to regret what i said. its an everyday struggle just to say the right things and i guess i've only been able to do thru God. i pray for His guidance to keep me thru the rest of my journey.

day of freedom!
went to catch 'taxi' today after lunch at cartel ;) quite funny but kinda ripped-off from the french original. like the storyline is abt the same..the car chases are equally good and the women are just hot..! haha..i thot the initial bike part was better than the scooter one but heh its good and i guess i'll give it 4/5 :D
waited for lisa to knock off then headed down to al azhar for my first meet up with jon the man haha..its been like 2 mths since i last saw him and the next time he saw me was in tekong heh. dude has longer hair than me (but i bet i've got the shortest) and we had this strange form of greeting. we would shake hands then clench fists and then pull off the caps and then laugh. dinner was good..releasing all the crap from the army life felt like being able to shit after having constipation for the past month. lol..enjoyed myself. food could have been better but well its alright :) the company made up for it heh. and i was quite surprised to see my section mate there too!
then after dinner walked to calvin's place and sent dawn off before heading back with lisa and then headed home. haha..i think i'll either sleep with sweet dreams or not sleep at all heh =D

34 - 1 = ahhhhhhh time!
as i speak.
i have 33 hours left.
so.
i'm gonna make the full use of it and say,
gee i lost my train of thought after that sentence..owells i'll tell you when i remember hopefully in another 24 hour haha..well, yet to pack, so should be soon and will prob get joe to update this blog for me heh, loaning my stuff out (so shout out if ya want anything i got!)
today was a bit of a run around or rather the lack of running ard. was supposed to go to novena to grab some stuff from the addidas factory outlet there but got sidetracked at the qshop so heh. after that biked down to jq's place to find that yes, tennis is still on, and no, no one (cept johan) is playing. played a lil over an hour before trying squash, which i suprised myself and me. heh. then went to eat my last al azhar meal before i go in..and the food was good..!
well gotta cut it short so i can pack my stuff up and maybe xbox a lil before turning in..cuz its goona rain and rain = nice time to sleep! :)

...was a blast..but he couldn't sit still..
then went to meet the 'seducer' of my joss haha..and collect compensation :P (sounds quite erm..ah-hem ;)
realised that it was a bit of a mad rush as it was already to jump from place to place..so skipped theQshop and went for yf prayer meeting at church. and it was good time of sharing and well listening.
left after that for the highlight of the day..which was my last competition. well..performed to my own expectations cept for the wierd part that my break failed me the entire night. quite happy that i played well but not too happy that i didn't really reach my target of 3 wins out of 3. heh. perfectionist *rolls eyes* so i'm prob ranked no.1 in my grp but on paper no.4 haha..thats cuz the next stage would be next week's sunday so yeah..tough..so like to wish my friends playing there all the best for their games :)
Saturday, October 16, 2004
thanks for the wonderful night..
as it has been for quite some time :P
wanted to go running when i woke up buttttttttttttt........ the sun was so bright and so hot! :P so lazy slacker me put off running again haha..
so yes, i went and sat down in front my new toy and began playing again :P cleared the stage at last..after like wat? 5-6 tries..then got stuck at another stage..haha..but its good (btw that was crimson skies) then top spin won another 2 pro tournaments heh..in the top 5 now! (actually i'm no.5! but..heh its 5/100 leh!) then realised i was late for my appointment with hsien to go to beach rd to get the army stuff..
which was surprisingly fast and easy..the auntie there very very efficient haha..so got all the stuff i need to get from beach rd. so now left stuff to get from a pharmacy and ntuc.
anyways got my 'package' then headed to selegie for cartel heh. everyone was late! but then again who cares when we're all together and having a great time rite? :) i certainly enjoyed myself (and even thought i was 18 again :P) we had good food, warm fellowship, crazy laughter and definitely noisy noise :P then walked and went to the arcade at suntec for a bit before heading back and yeash it was such a great night tonight that words can't really express how i feel :) so danke lisa, grace (esp for organising), dawn, jq, johan (you snooze [we tickle] you die!), elvin, danny.
anyways, i came up with this just now, "i'm a 60 year old man, in a 20 year old body, with an 18 year old mind"
child's point of view.
HAIR
"Why is there hair on your legs, Daddy? (while Dad pondered for the most
scientific answer, child adds:
Is there no space on your head for the hair to grow?"
NUDITY
I was driving with my three young children one warm summer evening when a Woman in the convertible ahead of us stood up and waved. She was stark naked! As I was reeling from the shock, I heard my 5-year-old shout from the back seat, "Mom! That lady isn't wearing a seat belt!
HONESTY
My son Zachary, 4, came screaming out of the bathroom to tell me he'd dropped his toothbrush in the toilet. So I fished it out and threw it in the garbage. Zachary stood there thinking for a moment, then ran to my bathroom and came out with my toothbrush. He held it up and said with a harming little smile, "We better throw this one out too then, 'cause it fell in the toilet a few days ago.
OPINIONS
On the first day of school, a first-grader handed his teacher a note from his mother. The note read, "The opinions expressed by this child are not necessarily those of his parents."
KETCHUP
A woman was trying hard to get the ketchup to come out of the jar. During her struggle the phone rang so she asked her 4-year-old daughter to answer the phone "It's the minister, Mommy," the child said to her mother. Then she added, "Mommy can't come to the phone to talk to you right now. She's hitting the bottle."
MORE NUDITY
A little boy got lost at the YMCA and found himself in the women's locker room. When he was spotted, the room burst into shrieks, with ladies grabbing towels and running for cover. The
>>little boy watched in amazement and then asked, "What's the matter haven't you ever seen a little boy before?"
ELDERLY
While working for an organization that delivers lunches to elderly shut-ins, I used to take my 4-year-old daughter on my afternoon rounds. The various appliances of old age, particularly the canes, walkers and wheelchairs, unfailingly intrigued her. One day I found her staring at a pair of false teeth soaking in a glass. As I braced myself for the inevitable barrage of questions, she merely turned and whispered, "The tooth fairy will never believe this!"
DRESS-UP
A little girl was watching her parents dress for a party. When she saw her dad donning his tuxedo, she warned, "Daddy, you shouldn't wear that suit." "And why not, darling?" the afther
asked.
"You know that it always gives you a headache the next morning."
DEATH
While walking along the sidewalk in front of his church, our minister heard the intoning of a prayer that nearly made his collar wilt. Apparently, his 5-year-old son and his playmates had found a dead robin. Feeling that proper burial should be performed, they had secured a small box and cotton batting, then dug a hole and made ready for the disposal of the deceased. The minister's son was chosen to say the appropriate prayer s and with sonorous dignity intoned his version of what he thought his Father always said:
"Glory be unto the Faaaather, and unto the Sonnn .. and into the hole he gooooes."
SCHOOL
A little girl had just finished her first week of school. "I'm just wasting my time," she said to her mother. "I can't read, I can't write and they won't let me talk!"
BIBLE
A little boy opened the big family bible. He was fascinated as he fingered through the old pages. Suddenly, something fell out of the Bible. He picked up the object and looked at it. What he saw was an old leaf that had been pressed in between the pages. "Mama, look what I found", the boy called out.
" What have you got there, dear?"
With astonishment in the young boy's voice, he answered, "I think it's Adam's underwear"

what a nite!~
so after that jq had to go dental so i went to meet alex up at far east and having the time, decided to walk to far east (on hindsight and hindleg it was a bad choice). got there in 15 mins (?) and then met up with him and his classmates (don't remember much, cept that his two other guy classmates were quite funny..) walked ard "level one" and well..beside it being chick/ah lian haven, it was eye-candy haven too i guess..got really bored while one of his gal classmates was trying on some tops..then jq came and i left with him to go meet lisa at cine. heh..now why it was a bad choice..cuz we speed-raced like in nfsu (in heavy human traffic) thru orchard mrt-wisma-taka then to cine..bumped into a couple of pple haha oops..(so sorry!)
so after meeting her and then the two of them deciding on where to watch 'white chicks' (they couldn't decide to stay at cine or go ps) then we moved off to ps (thank goodness we didn't walk..) by train..then they couldn't get tix to white chicks even though we tried the automated machines and stuff. then they went back to the counter and tried to get tix for resident evil instead and guess what, they got the same counter guy and lo and behold someone had let go of 3 tix (in a row summore) for that white chicks, not 5 mins before. so they got the tix to their show..then i had to run off to marina south to hitch a ride from gay-lvin and meet the idiot. got the car and then tried to find the superbowl and the recommended bbq-steamboat. so we more or less found it but had to wait for the old dinosaur to come. so we walked ard into the arcades, and then found cue & q, which turned out to be a lil snooker haunt (for ahbengs) but they had a couple of ok pool tables at the back so we took one of them and just decided to play. heh guess what..using the house cues provided..i broke clear on one of the racks! :P so happy! =D haha..and the shots i was pulling off..i dunnoe how i did them but it just came. we stopped after an hour after the bumbling fossil came and had a couple of racks.
the food was great..heh..ate our fill and had live prawns! literally, jumping haha..lots of crap-talking thru the food and man, if we had only bothered to film it..i tell you..the jokes we can come up with..would be in one word, incredible. anyways the joke of the night is this. cuz of we had live prawns (which were live and jumping in the container) we cooked some and then westin passed one of the cooked ones over the container to show the live ones 'their impending fate' and the prawns really did become more agitated even trying to jump out (from this we know that prawns are brainless or blind cuz the container was closed) and then like this especially lively one, which galvin took and and said that since it liked to move so much, it would go into the pot first! promptly dumped it in and alex was suggesting that we put it in lower part first. thats when westin said that we would all prob get nightmares abt trying to escape a closed container, then a pair of giant chopsticks would take us up and we would see a gigantic king prawn who would say, "hmmms i think i will try to put you in legs first". aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!
well..went back to far east to meet lisa, dawn and mini-maximized-me..told me the movie was good. makes me wanna download it more :P then sat down and chit-chatted abit before heading for home by train. saw this scene that touched my heart. saw this blind beggar selling tissue paper in the middle of a crossing, when this caucasian stopped by with a drink and started a conversation with him, offering him the drink. well was really impressed. kudos to that guy. respect.
and well..while i missed csi, i caught sg idol and well can't agree why its such a popular show. feels its really quite screwed up show. basically..unlike 'the apprentice', 'the bachelor/bachelorette', 'amazing race' or even the bimbotic 'top model', this is basically a popularity contest where simply the most votes from the viewers would win, instead of from the judges. so its like really screwed up to me. like the most undeserving guy could actually walk off with the title..so unfair!
anyways thanks to galvin, alex and westin for the night. it was fantastic!

time of my life :D
been doing stuff after work and on weekends and stuff and meeting friends and basically just having fun! :D
work was a huge bore, doing the letters by hand and its really wols progress and a huge stack waiting to be done. well..planning to quit next wednesday so hope it clears by then or my mates would have loads to do..then good luck to them =P *big grin*
had tennis after work..tried the older/heavier racket..was quite nice hitting but a lil too heavy. then had a solo session with dn chia..haha..was quite good..can take (some of) his forehands and backhands and return a couple of my own too! haha..like it was a warzone of sorts there. first, before he and esther came, we were tossing ard the ol' horsehide when danny pulled his shoulder *ouch*, following which i whacked my right elbow into one of the tennis poles *oouchh* and then we figured its abt time johan and jq got injured too..but they didn't :P and yes i proclaim myself ball magnet of the week! got hit two or three times (one right into the back by danny), and then had like 6-10 near misses (can feel the wind of the ball). but yes..i survived :D
then had supper at al azhar and talked abt a lot of stuff haha..quite fun to have supper with pple who like to talk and share their views heh. so in the midst, we decided (or rather esther suggested) to go night cycling..currently still in the planning but day has been decided heh. destination prob east coast to catch the morning sun (hope it doesn't rain! *crosses fingers*) so cool..then got a lift back and then after a nice shower, here i am sitting regalling you abt my day.
so quite cool huh? sorta have my week planned out now..
tues - go over to adrain's place to send my regards, followed by collecting my cues from gf.
wed - physio in the morning then dinner with ma sista~
thur - hmm...nothing planned yet..but dunno if i'm gonna do anything at all :D
fri - steamboat buffet with my pool mates..night cycling
sat- badminton?

another sports day
decided to skip the ept ranking for soccer cuz its been too long that i've gone without soccer and meeting my soccer mates.. but had to cut my hair first haha..so rushed here and there cuz i got informed of soccer late.. but it was good.. scored a couple (and all in the heart of the
some cheena pple came and like tried to take over the court. see we were at nus and playing at the basketball courts since the handball courts are full. there's a "no soccer" rule there on the signboards but no one seemed to be picking a bone with us for playing there..till those guys stepped in. well..nothing against the PRC peeps (there was one of them playing soccer with us and he was fine) but those numbskulls were total asses. they demanded we leave the court and then said, "there are no other courts" when in fact at the far end there was an EMPTY court unused by anyone. when we pointed that out to them, all they did was keep harping on the "no soccer" rule. that really ticked me off..like can't they see? or if they asked nicely i would have been fine to let them have the court. when they refused to move, we continued playing.. too bad i was on the wrong side of the court if not i wouldn't have minded taking a couple of potshots at them. then they decided to call all the other "tong pan men" to come over to "conquer" the court. so seeing that this time there were really too many of them, we decided to leave but not before we argued and i gave them a piece of my mind. freaking boneheads. luckily a couple of them were more diplomatic. (following which i stormed off the court and kicked over a table) was so freaking pissed off..so much that it reminded me of the time when i had a super short fuse and snap at every small thing. well it was just like that..can't stand haughty pple who are so legalistic (and blind) and as if they own the ground we tread on.. i just feel its so wrong. like how can anyone think like this in the modern day and age? really numbskulled.
anyways was intending to go yf but was too tired, and hungy, and well its still excuses = but yeah..its been awhile since i hung out with marcus, junhao, kai and the bunch..like our sat soccer session were stopped cuz of their workload in school..so really no other way to meet them..(apart from skipping work) :P had dinner and lots of laughs, jibes and fun, food wasn't too die for but the company sure was..! so thanks guys! =D (should you ever read this :)
well..its another 18 days to go..and a brand new week starting soon!

@ work..but not @ work
posting this from office..haha..found a com which wasn't affected by the LAN and like the connections really really slow or they just can't process heh.
feeling a lot better from this time yesterday so thats good :)
and like the room's so empty today. the 2nd grp of temps left already =/ and like another 4 went MIA :P so like left 6 of us in the office..
now's a bit after lunch hour and i don't feel like working..its really very bored kinda feeling haha..like don't see the need to keep working since theres no one around. too bad there ain't no half-day pay if not i would have left to go home hehe ^^ nvm 3 more hours till i enjoy the freedom and do my stuff. i can do it!~~ :P
speaking of which they said they'll retain us for another 2 or so more weeks and some of them will be retained for permenant positions (good for them :)
looking forward to recover fully to partner up with zhong yan on sat to once again go on an unbeaten run (and beat dn chia and johan :D)
heh ok shall get back to work now.. :P

ughhh-i hate being sick
then went to the breakfast table and couldn't seem to swallow my fruits at all..its like i take a bite and chew and chew and chew but when it came to swallow like quite difficult..and i had this wierd sensation of something like hiccups but without the "hic!" also felt like wanting to vomit but nothing came out.
went back to bed and called in sick and slept till 11 when i awoke to find that my stomach was still in pain. walked ard and tried to make sense of things before i went back to bed and waking up at only 2.40pm. same feeling.. :( can't vomit (which i destest..even though it would have made me feel better)..nothing to shit out (which was worse..felt like a block of rubbish sitting in my gut) and still no way to eat. so i went to the doctor which diagnosed me as having stomach flu -___-
so now back at home i'm starving but have to wait till half an hour later and also that there isn't any porridge stalls open now.. =/ so had to get instant porridge. will tell you how they taste.
btw..on a happier note, man u rox :) they won 6-2 :P
some days are good for first times :)
and winning 2 bucks in guard is a no-brainer..
anyways for those reading..there's badminton on sat! clementi courts 14 & 15 from 11am - 1pm. so do come down and join us..! (and tell me if you're coming)

a short today = a long tomorrow
tennis was ok lah..had a mini game and won 6-2 (joels vs eugene/danny) guess you could call it a game of double faults. haha..hilarious..only towards the end that we had slightly more gameplay..
quite tired..lots of stuff happened and happening these days and well i'm really bushed..!

two crazy days
took off on thurs cuz a) my mum's birthday (so..Happy Birthday Mom!) b) my occupational theraphy and c) i just want some time off. went for birthday lunch at some jap place at novena sq. food was good..but my mum overordered and i had to run off to keep my appointment with my funky therapist. that was good :) had a wax thingy of my hand to help loosen the muscles and a warm pack for the shoulder and after that did some exercises which i'm supposed to do regularly but keep forgetting haha..and then i was done! but my arm was feeling the strain. anyways..pool doesn't need my left arm haha..
went to gf after that..to meet westin and alex and galvin. westin's got his new cue so heh..we all had to go down to view it.. really nice and all..just felt a bit light to me haha..but i'm nuts so can ignore my comment on it, and then i realised. gee...! its been such a long while since we came together as a group. and i was saying that..my "bust the lights out" came by and thus the reunion of sorts was complete. haha..he was ranting abt uncle scroogey being the ntu cuesports club coach..haha..i don't blame him. anyways galvin's still quite sharp..alex's improving..westin's still really sharp and benny..haha..goodness knows what all that studyin has done to that player..! made a deal amongst us that we should go out for a makan before i go in.
anyways..partly the reason we were there was because of westin's cue..the other however..was that it was dennis' ROM. so congrats to the newlyweds and many happy years ahead! had a buffet dinner and then more pool. justin (gf) organised a mini tournament, single elim, $5 buy-in, race to 7. haha..first round met justin but managed to put up a fight of sorts..well.. lets just put it as i've got a long way to go to beat them. after that me, alex and zhenjie played on then left ard 11..
and yeash i was late for work cuz i couldn't get up.. :P can't help it if my bed's too nice, my pillow's too soft, my bolsters too huggable rite? and work was quite a bore haha..happened to 'keng' a bit more today..nearly beat my minesweeper intermediate score of 138 secs but killed myself on the last mine at 130 secs.. -___- then after work dropped by cartel to say hi to lisa before heading back to gf for day2 :P haha..
which started out quite well..played bryan from hsb again, not too bad..really nice guy to spar with and train against. then guard caught his eye and his wallet and he proceeded to earn a bit of moolah from these bunch of ginas playing guard haha..sort of a hustle of sorts..continued to train on my own and managed a break clear..(its been awhile since i had one) and then sparred with zhenjie losing 5-7 and then beating him 9-6 later on that nite. all in all a good nite..learnt some shots and position play..found some errors and correcting them. a really good nite for me today..
anyways just to end off with a quote, "you can't have a better tomorrow if you keep thinking about yesterday all the time." (yes its from the NEL :P)
p.s. when we had our reunion we took a couple of photos of our 'partners' (some wives, girlfriends or mistresses =X) and its all here photos! or you could go to the link called "photos and calendar" on the side bar

muuhhhh eyeeessssss
so basically had to read thru the "sob-stories". well...some of them are legit but when they aren't fulfilling the clauses, guess its time to be 'hard-hearted' and reject them once again. well well..learnt to 'fake' an approval letter.. mine came out not too bad k! tried to copy the real ones till they were almost identical.. so identical if non of them said anything you would have thot that it was real! :P (r--i--t--e..!) so now i'm a pirated forger LOL :D
then went to hit some balls with the local indian hustler..played quite ok if not for my eyes which were burning out of their sockets..my friend did spot one of my major errors..said my head tended to lift up at the last moment thus losing the aiming point..so guess have to keep my head down more..
anyways there's this dumb show on ghost-hunting on ch 5. haha..imagine this scenario, you're sleeping when 4 pple burst into your room.. you throw something at them to hint to them you're not to be disturb..they seem to take the hint and leave. but 10 mins later they come back in chanting some rubbish and putting up some lights so you sneak up and pull the plug on their light. they freak out and run back downstairs. then they pull out a board with many letters and expect you to play with them, when all you want to do is to be left alone to continue sleeping. well thats precisely what those pple in that show were trying to do.."hunt a ghost" really looked like some video that could have made it for "america's funniest home videos"
anyway signing off..i remember its 28 days more to ns. haha..how time flies =/

stressed tennis or tennised stress
well really had a good time at tennis after work today..seems that i've picked up a couple more things and well i'm playing slightly better :) cept for the slight knock i picked up when the ball hit my racket's rim and hit my eye..so there's a little bruise there now..
so tired..
methinks i'm gonna sleep quite soon..falling asleep typing this post heh ;)
btw..songs of the week are "if i had a million dollars" by bare-naked ladies, "simple kind of lovely" by maroon5 and the accoustic version of "she will be loved" by the same group and "innocent" by fuel.. haha..!
nites ya'all..btw..its 29 days to go!

the essence of time
daughter: "look pa..we're only going to be 5 mins late.. its better than being 30 minutes late which is whole lot more later!"
father: "well..5 mins is alot of time. see 10 pple are waiting for me. so 5 mins to 10 is... 50 mins. and that is alot of time isn't it?"
daughter: "ummm..."
well..really found that interesting and had my head thinking abt that for awhile..guess i should be more punctual, ya?
couple of things to do this week..
- mum's birthday on thurs
- tennis tmrw!
- badminton sat!
- save more money :P
- physio on thurs
and yes i'm wondering what has happened to my faithful taggers..seems so quiet there.

200th post..
doing extra work to cover but at least it was good i guess..i feel good at the end of the day when i saw all the work completed. :)
went straight to gf and played with a couple of the guys there..won 7-5 (with 2 golden breaks) and lost 6-7 to bryan and won some team gf member 5-4 (with lots of safety play)..not bad..even though haven't touched the cue for like quite a while.. since sunday heh.
playd quite well after that at rc but like the table was really bad..so apart from that i could well, drop out of that playing rhythm and get right back into it is really a good start..tmrw's there's still ept tour at klassic (which sounds really..phoneyy!) and i have to work!!hahaha..alternatively..i could sleeeeeeeep in..*rolls eyes & yawn*
and yeash this is my 200th posting.. :) its been so long..haha..and didn't realise that it's finally here! haha...but well..just another small marker on the road..
btw..joseph has like such a "lucky" mouth. the first time it happened was when he told kevin that he was going to try the 5 ball combination if kevin missed the ball..which he did..and jos pulled off the combi like it was a piece of cake. today's the second, when edgar missed the 2, jos said he's going for the 9 at any cost and then he made it..incredibly. guess whats the third..we went for supper at west coast..then we ordered teh tarik..but the guy took like forever to come, by which time we were thirsty and had almost finished our food..so we decided to heck care and order from the drink stall across us..as the guy was getting the drinks for us, he said, "after we buy this only the teh tarik will come.." well he wasn't that far off..i had only filled my cup when..yes, the guy with the teh tarik came.. -____-
well done joseph..! well done! -______-
now i'm all awake la!

really ahchoo-ed

still feeling like going to sleep..again.
uuuugggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..!!!!!

aaaaahhhhhhhchhhhhhooooooooooo
speaking of which, today wasn't that a killer day (if not for the nose) but it was tough and fun in a way..had more staff to help us out but some of them turned out to be more non-committal than i thought. haha..apart from that the ankle's really bad..seem to have really bad muscle spasms in my ankle and they really hurt. apart from that, the work was good..what made the work light was prob the company (its like really good to have pple who are naturally funny working alongside you :) also lots of wierd cases, like these person has 2 mothers, and like how would you address someone's mistress? yeah, that got my sups stumped. lol..really funny day.
wantd to run today..but didn't in the end cuz of my ankle..then couldn't book the court so no badminton on friday =/ really quite looking forward to it and now its off. really tough to book man..hahah..owells..went to buy groceries and stuff after that..so that i won't spend so much on food in office..like really..you'd be surprised how much i've been eating since i started work. and yes food = money. so if you waste food = waste money. thus more money = more food..erm wait..that doesn't work out rite! hahah..
well..hopefully the ankle will get better..! its like quite bad today and don't want to get it any worse.. songs of the week has been, "me and my monkey" by robbie williams, "falling for the first time" by barenaked ladies and "hold on" by jet. it'll be a while before i get some of those lyrics up..quite meaningful some of them.
and yeah my 'desk' has now 3 styrofoam coffee cups and they're all decorated by..me! haha..got so bored while waiting for my work to respond so i drew a herd of sheep..haha..workplace art huh? ;) maybe show it you peeps when i finally quit haha..

ouchh
and yes more raves and rants..btw..there's a family thats quite cool..there's like 6 kids and their names all start with 'A'..and not those normal names but "cheem-cheem" names. haha was too busy rushing thru the forms so didn't really take it down. and i found out that the fastest i go thru a form that only needed checking was 18 secs haha.. ;)
and yes..the thought of tennis after work just kept me going. didn't really play very well. donno how to hit the backhand even though some pple *prod-prod* make it look so simple haha..guess it boils down to lots of practice *shrugs* and then the doubles game was crap..kept double faulting.. =/ need more practice and like eugene can really serve along with dn chia against the two joels who couldn't.. hahaa..no prizes for guessing who was losing but! didn't lose! ah-hah! the lights went out as we were serving for the game at 2-4 (yes, joels 2). earlier called a fault from dn chia's serve and then foolishly didn't move out of the way -__-! yes ouchh.. but i'm fine lah..
then went to rail road place or sth to follow jq to return and borrow some movies..then tried to get some food from cold storage and 7-11 but didn't see anything appetising so left with a 'big gulp' of 100 plus..then while waiting for the bus to go back, saw a shop which sign read to me as, "life's like a bagel" and wondering why it looked so wierd till jq told me that it was actually "life's like a booze!" -_-" felt really stew-pidd after that.
saw this quote and thot this was really cool, goes like this, "chance makes our parents, but choice makes our friends" so choose wisely :)

one of the more experienced (and older) temp staff left for another job so means more work coming in. gah..and my cousin's taking 2 days off this week so.. -_-!
ended up playing pool instead of sleeping today..bad choice haha..but *shrugs can't chase the time back, aye?
this is gonna be another long week and i'm still ranting and raving about those forms whose applicants either can't read (low levy conversion is for maids for parents/grandparents over 65 and/or children under 12 -- but pple apply for themselves, their sister/brother, uncle/auntie)/spell (hmmms...so do i give low levy to pple who have a monther at home? -- maybe 'monther' = mother-in-law .. hmmms..)/understand (like 'read' only that when you ask them about whether xxxx is their auntie, they go, "no..she's my mother's sister" -- d'oh..!)
yikes~ anyways tennis tmrw at jq's place at 7..and touch nfl on sat was quite fun..haha..like my team's plays and like it ain't fair that their wide reciever is 4 years younger and 4 times as fast as this old fart sitting front of the pc :P
btw..the last post wasn't really directed at anyone..just felt fustrated that sometimes (because of upbringing/perception/opinion,) we tend to read between the lines..when we shouldn't and we're all guilty of it sometime or another, myself included.

there's more to life than just the girl
maybe its abt time to come clean.. maybe its abt time to say that i just guess i've been misunderstood.. maybe its time for me to say, "hey, there's more in life than just the girl".
in another 40 days i'll disappear into the system called national service, all i want it to have a good time before i'll have no time..
to those who know me well enough.. you'll prob know of my interest in someone and you prob know that i just got two left feet. guess i have my problems expressing myself and stuff.. haven't ever put my feet right into the right path and while its changing.. i'm not too bothered by what i do anymore.i'm not too bothered by what to care abt..what pple think and what you feel anymore.
but sometimes i wish pple could look at the big picture and not get sidetracked.. life just sucks when everyone looks at you like a freak.
Wednesday, September 08, 2004
still got lot to learn to improve my game. can't serve for nuts haha..
might go running tmrw and then see how abt friday ;)

work work
owells a short summary..started work on tuesday (you guys know that already), weds was spent in the mail room then thurs onwards was furiously attacking the coms to check and amend the info (so to those who's parent(s) applied for the low levy maid thingy, pls remind them incomplete forms and bad handwriting is really a pain in the ass to process) haha..really..can die going thru those forms.
thank God for a good week on the whole, and a good job with a good work environment. and also for good colleagues. starting a brand new week is tough..i don't feel like going to work today :P but don't think i'll have a choice.
caught bourne supremacy on thurs and it was good :) the action scenes, car chases, the predictable plot but it was still good. however, those who are fans of robert ludlum (guy who writes the bourne series, 4 books altogether - identity, supremacy, ultimatium, legacy. you'll be disappointed to know that the book and movie aren't the same)
and ain't it ironic at times when you're just waiting and looking forward to seeing someone and then hesitate and then find out later that person was looking forward to meeting you too?
and somehow i still feel vindicated..even now.
"we have two ears and one tongue so we should listen more and talk less."
